The Extra Step for Stroke Preparation

Updated: Aug 19

In the days immediately following a stroke, the body increases its production of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs), and the extent of recovery is positively correlated with the number of these cells mobilized. Having a bank of one’s own MSCs ready for immediate use following a stroke ensures that a high number of stem cells are ready to aid in the recovery process.

When it comes to an emergency as life-threatening as a stroke, it is important to take every step possible to be prepared. Among learning the F.A.S.T. warning signs and knowing the risk factors, banking one's MSCs is an additional, and just as significant, step for promoting the best possible recovery.

SafeGuard Banking is an offering by Celltex that allows a therapeutic dose of your own MSCs to be prepared quickly for use after a life-threatening emergency occurs. Because SafeGuard Banking allows for quick intervention, it is especially promising in the case of a stroke.

In this webinar, we discuss SafeGuard Banking and address the properties that allow MSCs to help as the body responds immediately following a stroke.

We also share Braden Heckendorn’s story, a Celltex client who suffered a unique type of stroke caused by injury rather than high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease.

MORE ABOUT BRADEN:

When thinking about a stroke, those associated with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease typically come to mind. However, the stroke that Celltex client Braden Heckendorn suffered at the age of 7 had an entirely different cause.

In December 2013, Braden suffered an anoxic brain injury after being accidentally shot in the heart with a pellet gun. The injury interrupted the flow of oxygen to his brain, impairing his ability to speak, see, and walk. Braden's parents found Celltex, and he was able to bank and receive a therapeutic dose of his own Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs). He quickly saw improvements in his vision, speech, and movement.
